Privacy Policy
Privacy policy for Dusk Port — what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Last updated: 2026-05-10 Effective date: 2026-05-10
This policy explains what personal information Dusk Port (the website at duskport.com — replace with actual domain on launch) collects, why, and what your rights are.
We try to keep this page short and readable. If something is unclear, contact us.
TL;DR
- We use Cloudflare Web Analytics + Plausible Analytics for traffic counts. Both are privacy-friendly and do not use cookies or fingerprinting.
- We may run Google AdSense (or similar) display ads. Those use cookies; we’ll show a consent banner where required.
- If we add a newsletter (Beehiiv), we collect your email only with your explicit subscription. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- We don’t sell your data. We don’t have user accounts. We don’t track you across other sites.
What we collect
Automatically (server logs and analytics)
- IP address (anonymized in analytics; full address may briefly appear in server logs)
- User agent (browser, operating system version)
- Pages visited and time spent
- Referrer (which site sent you here, if any)
- Approximate location (country / region — derived from IP by Cloudflare; we don’t see precise location)
This data is collected by Cloudflare’s edge network as part of normal HTTP serving, and by our analytics tools.
Through cookies (only if you consent)
If you’re in a region requiring cookie consent (EU/UK/EEA), we’ll show a banner. If you click “Accept all”, we’ll set:
- Advertising cookies for AdSense (if running)
- Possibly preference cookies (theme, dismissed notice flags)
If you click “Reject” or “Essential only”, we don’t set advertising cookies, and analytics fall back to the cookie-free Cloudflare/Plausible mode.
When you submit something to us
- Newsletter signup: your email address (stored in our newsletter service, currently planned to be Beehiiv)
- Contact form / email: whatever you send us
We don’t have user accounts. We don’t take comments. There’s no other UGC.
What we do with it
- Serve the site: IP address and headers are needed to deliver pages
- Analytics: aggregate traffic counts (which pages are popular, where readers come from) — used to decide what to write next
- Newsletter: if you subscribed, we send the newsletter to that address
- Reply to your message: if you contacted us, we read it and may reply
- Security: Cloudflare may automatically block suspicious requests
We do not:
- Sell your data
- Share data with marketing partners
- Build profiles of individual readers
- Run retargeting ads back at you on other sites
Third parties involved
We rely on these processors:
| Provider | Purpose | Data they see |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | CDN + analytics + DNS + email routing | IP, request headers, page content (encrypted in transit, at rest) |
| Plausible Analytics | Privacy-friendly analytics | Anonymized traffic data; no cookies |
| GitHub Pages / Cloudflare Pages | Static hosting | Pages served (no per-user data) |
| Beehiiv (planned) | Newsletter delivery | Email + name if provided + open/click metrics |
| Google AdSense (planned) | Display advertising | Cookies if you consent; targets ads based on Google’s system |
If we add or change a third party, we’ll update this list and the date above.
Cookies in detail
If we run AdSense:
- DoubleClick ID (
__gads) — Google’s ad-targeting cookie. Set only after consent in EEA/UK. - Various Google session cookies tied to ad delivery.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at:
We don’t use:
- Facebook Pixel
- TikTok Pixel
- LinkedIn Insight
- Hotjar / FullStory / session replay
- Any “tracking” pixels beyond ads (if running)

Data retention

Security
We rely on Cloudflare for HTTPS, DDoS protection, and edge security. We don’t store passwords or payment data (we don’t have user accounts or process payments). Newsletter signups are handled by Beehiiv’s secure systems.
No system is unbreakable, but we don’t hold sensitive data, so the impact of a breach would be limited (mostly: emails of newsletter subscribers).
Changes to this policy
We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top whenever we change anything. Material changes (adding a new processor, expanding what we collect) will get a notice on the homepage for at least 30 days.
